turtleOklahoma Wildcrafting

Oklahoma is home to many edible species of mushrooms. Many of us in this state

know of the morels, however we have added a few to the list on this site. Remember
there is no room for mistaken identity; your first bite could be your last. If you choose
to try any of these mushrooms, please be sure of your ID. Find someone who is a
expert and is able to help you properly identify what you are about to ingest.

There are no old, bold mushroom hunters!

I have been asked to share some of the mushrooms I forage for every
year. The following are some I have identified with help. I am no
expert on mushroom identification. I have only harvested these
following species after they were identified by a expert in mycology.
There are many more species in Oklahoma that are edible. Some I have
chosen not to put on this site.  I suggest you contact :

OSU or OU for a botanist's help
